Detached house in Soller
The design also contemplates practical aspects. The pitched roof reduces the shadow cast on neighboring properties to the south, while the windows on the upper level allow optimal natural light to enter from the north without compromising privacy. In addition, the sloping shape of the roof offers panoramic views of the natural surroundings, while protecting privacy from neighboring houses. The house incorporates systems for rainwater harvesting and natural ventilation, making the best use of available resources and reducing its environmental impact.
From a construction point of view, materials such as brick and concrete were used to provide excellent thermal mass, which helps regulate the interior temperature in a cold climate. The windows are strategically protected from the sun by deep eaves at the top and wooden screens at the bottom, which in addition to providing shade, adds a distinctive aesthetic element, especially during the evenings when the house is lit up like a lantern in the landscape.
